An estimated 90% of school-aged children attend public schools.
Chances are, you went to a public school, as did your neighbor and coworker. Your parent or caregiver likely also attended a public school. There's a decent chance the person who designed that app you love went to public school, as did the astronauts who walked on the moon. The hit song you can't stop singing probably came from an artist who sang in a public high school choir. Millions and millions of Americans, both now and in the past, benefited from public education.
The knowledge and skills cultivated in public school classrooms lifted countless many out of poverty, fueled scientific breakthroughs, helped cure diseases, informed policy, and empowered the disenfranchised.
Public education is a resounding success in both the United States and in Washington, but there's so much left to achieve. This system of schools and school districts is forever learning, improving, and striving to provide a high-quality education to all.
